This unique and collaborative project was a first here at PJB and one we all very much enjoyed.

When we met with the clients for the first time we realised this was going to be a different kind of project.

The client knew they wanted a two storey - front of house extension, they knew they wanted to extend the size of both the kitchen and dining room downstairs and two of the four bedrooms upstairs. The twist here was that they wanted to be part of the team who built this extension. They had skills which meant they wanted to undertake, electrical work, plumbing, and labouring.

So after some great brainstorming, planning, and a successful planning application we were off. A 40msq extension, with a pitched roof and two lovely big bay windows was about to be born.
Two Story Extension - Doubling Up.
Its the summer so no problem with the schedule (we thought). Except the weather has proved to be a challenge, however, this unique team meant that when the days were short due to weather the couple ploughed on with the things they could do and honestly, if they wanted a job then we would be happy to welcome them both to our team.

So several months of hard work, the wait was over, the building is up, watertight and looking fabulous from the outside.

The clients always wanted to be the ones who finished off the project, so we have now handed back and they are well underway with the decorating and finishing. If we are honest we were a little sad not to be there to help finish it off. However, if we find we have a few spare hours we will definitely be back to volunteer our help with the decorating boxes just so we can be part of the final stage!

The quality of their workmanship is excellent and they fully involved us in the design and build, adopting an accommodating and a can-do approach throughout with a great problem-solving approach, inevitably on such a large project issues arose, but all were solved in a professional and innovative way, just what we wanted.

They have constantly been professional, whilst at the same time adopting a very affable approach, even in the face of adversity, the weather! It is a tribute that a large number of people walking/driving past the building have commented very favourably on both the workmanship and final result. We have been very happy throughout and can thoroughly recommend PJB to anyone wanting building or maintenance work done. Thank you PJB!
